The author says:

This is a variant of the dodecahedron/icosahedron point geometry. The core is a double-layered gold dodecahedron. Twelve staggered pentagonal cylinders are used to extend the dodecahedron. Twelve semi-spheres (silver) are attached to the ends of the cylinders, and a triangular webbing is used to provide rigidity to the shape, connecting the twelve semi-spheres.
